  • Focus Friday 2 went deeper into the skills and characteristics needed to be successful throughout students careers. We also used the interest inventory from the following FOCUS Friday to get a batter understanding of what kind of job interests the students. Last but not least, we talked about the different types of community service students could do to complete their hours needed. We ended the day with to team building activities. This helped the students learn the importance of working together to complete one task. They had t learn how to communicate and work as one in order to be successful.

Career Exploration- Students got on a website to look up what type of career went with the interest inventory he or she was most interested in. This website broke down the degree needed, what kind of soft skills the student would need, technology skills, and whatever knowledge ge or she must hold to be successful at that particular job.

Soft Skills- Personal characteristic traits and interpersonal skills for working with others. The students learned that talking s not the only way of communication between people. There are various ways to connect with people, and it is highly important that everyone knows how to properly do so.

ACT projections- On the previous FOCUS Friday, the students took the ACT Explore test. With the scores the advisors got back, each student sat down with their advisor and went over what their projected scores would be if they took the actual ACT. They talked about what areas they excelled in and what areas he or she needed to work on. This will hel the students get a better idea of what to look for when they take the ACT in high school.

Community Service- Students and advisors talked about what community service meant to each one of them.
