  • Local applications will be available in the counseling office February 26, 2018. They will be in the wall holders. Scholarships with links may have earlier due dates. Clink on the link to go the updated pages. If the local scholarship does not have a specific date listed, it is due to the guidance office no later than April 10, 2018.

  • LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

    The following is a list of local scholarships for seniors.  Unless otherwise stated on the application, the return deadline is April 10.  Note that some applications must be picked up from another location and returned directly to the provider.  All others are to be returned to the Ripley High School counseling office where they will be forwarded to the provider.  Please note restrictions and qualifications before applying for each scholarship. Check with local churches for their scholarships also.

     

    Ethics Scholarship - As Lauderdale County encourages students to maintain high ethical work standards, this scholarship is to reward the senior with the highest score on the Work Ethics Certificate. This one time $500 scholarship can be used to pay for books, room/board fees, and transportation. In the event of a tie in scores the tying seniors' short essay explaining the importance of work eithics in every facet of life will break the tie. To apply, see guidance for application. Applications must be submitted by APRIL 13,2018

     

    Tennessee Coloege of Applied Technology Ripley Robert Reynolds Memorial Scholarship -  The Robert Reynolds Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship available to graduating Seniors from Ripley High School who plan to enroll at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Ripley in Fall 2018. The scholarship award is $500 to be used toward the technical program in which the student is enrolled at the time of the scholarship application submission, recipient seslction, and assignment of scholarship funds. Scholarship will aid in tuition/fees, purchasing required program/learning materials, equipment, national/state certification exams, or extreme hardship living expenses. Eligible Participants must be graduating from Ripley High School, completed admissions requirements and have a confirmed start date at TCAT Ripley, be full time student and maintain enrollment of 30 hours per week, and must be United States citizen or qualified alien with lawful presence in the US. Deadline April 9, 2018

     

    Aaron Schuh Memorial Scholarship- This scholarship in the amount of $1,500 will be presented to a deserving student in memory of Aaron Schuh.  The recipient should excel both academically and socially, have outstanding interpersonal skills, and participate in extracurricular activities.  Financial need and athletic participation (with special consideration for baseball/softball) will also be considered for this scholarship, along with recommendations from teachers.  Applications are available in the Counseling office.  Deadline to apply is April 10th.

    Margaret Ann Wright Williams Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to a deserving young person from Lauderdale County to pursue a college degree in education, church ministry, or medicine.  It is chosen on the basis of demonstrated financial need, moral character, and a strong willingness to pursue a college education.  This award is provided by the Williams family and the Ripley First United Methodist Church as Trustee. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be submitted by April 10th.

    John Hayden Ferguson Memorial Scholarship—This award is provided by the Ferguson family to someone involved in athletics, school activities, leadership, and church/community.   Deadline to apply is April 10th 

    Robert and Charlene Ward Memorial Scholarship Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each.  One scholarship will be awarded to a person entering the medical field and one to a person entering the accounting field.  Deadline is April 10th.

    Tollie Cheek Memorial Scholarship- Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, personal responsibility, and a motivated attitude.  Applications can be picked up in the guidance office. Applications must be submitted by April 10th.

    Coach C.M. Kelly Scholarship- This award is endowed by friends of Coach Kelly to a student with financial need, worthy character, and extracurricular activities.  Deadline is April 10th.

    The Hospital League Volunteers Nursing Scholarship-  This is a $750 scholarship for a student planning to enter the nursing field.  Applications are available in the counseling office but must be delivered to Lauderdale Community Hospital by April 16 at 4:00 p.m.

    Farm Bureau Scholarship for Lauderdale County- $300 scholarship awarded to one student going into an agricultural related field whose family is a member of Farm Bureau.  Application can be picked up in the counseling office and must be returned to Farm Bureau by April 12th. 

    Bank of Ripley/UTM Ripley Center Scholarship- This scholarship will be awarded to a Ripley High School graduate who will attend the UTM Ripley Center in the fall following graduation.  Pick up applications in the guidance office and return them by April 10th.

    Bank of Ripley/Jerry Coleman Memorial Scholarship- Students that apply should display leadership qualities in athletics as well as in scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities, community and church involvement, and work.  Applications are available in the counseling office. Please submit applications by April 10th.

    Bank of Ripley/Dyersburg State Community College Scholarship- Applying students must attend DSCC in the fall following their graduation.  Applications may be picked up in the counseling office and returned by April 10th.

    Thursday Evening Musicale Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in art or music.  Applications are available in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 10th

    Student Council Scholarship- Applications are available in the counseling office.  You must be or have been a member of Student Council to qualify.  Deadline is April 10th.

    Charles A. Montague, Jr.  Scholar/Athlete Scholarship--$2,000 award to a student showing excellence in the classroom, on the field of athletics, and shows unselfish dedication to classmates and teammates.  Deadline is April 10th.

    Teresa Patterson McLemore Memorial Nursing Scholarship-  This scholarship is given to a deserving Ripley High School graduate that is planning to pursue a career in the nursing profession.  Applications are available in guidance.  Deadline is April 10th.

    FMY Orthodontics Scholarship Award- Applicants must be currently or have been an Orthodontic patient of FMY Orthodontics.  Pick up the information concerning this scholarship in the counseling office.  Deadline for submission to FMY Orthodontics is April 5.

    Junior Auxiliary of Lauderdale County Scholarship-  This scholarship is available for students that are going into a field related to children, social work, or benefiting the underprivileged.  The application for this scholarship is available in the counseling office and must be returned to Junior Auxiliary by April 3.

    Scott White Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship- The Fraternal Order of Police, Robert P. White Lodge #27 is offering a $500 scholarship to a student who is pursuing a career in the Law Enforcement field.  Applications are available in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 10th

    Stan & Thelma Plumlee Scholarship—if you live in a manufactured home or some in your family works in the mobile home industry, you will be eligible to apply. Deadline is March 9.

    William & Hilda H. Paris Memorial--1 award by the Paris family with Bank of Ripley as Trustee; recipient must have a 3.5 GPA or 3.0 and 24 ACT score.  Selection is by random drawing.   Application may be picked up at Bank of Ripley or in the RHS Counseling office and returned to Bank of Ripley by June 15.

    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarship—This award is given by the XI Lambda Omega Chapter.  Emphasis is put on clubs, activities, associations, honors, and achievements.  Deadline is April 10.

     

    Professional Care Services/Thomas N. Rhem Scholarship—Two, $1,000 awards will be given to a student pursuing a degree in a mental/behavioral health field.  Deadline for submission to PCS is April 15.

     

    Upper Cumberland Angus Association/Tennessee Technological University—Four scholarships in the amount of $2,000 to students majoring in the Agricultural field.  Applications are in the counseling office.  Submission to UCAA by March 15.

    Bernie Varnadore Scholarship Program--  This scholarship is for outstanding seniors that have participated in a franchised Dixie Boys Baseball, Incorporated program from ages 13-16.  All applications must be received in the mail by April 1, 2015.

    Joe Griggs, Jr. and David Griggs Memorial Scholarship will award two $1000 awards for two years for students who will attend Dyersburg State Community College.  Students should send a short info sheet on themselves and a recommendation letter from his/her pastor and one teacher. To renew for the second year, the student must make satisfactory academic progress in his/her program of study. Send the renewal information to Sandra Rockett, Director of Financial Aid, Dyersburg State Community College, 1510 Lake Rd., Dyersburg, TN 38024. Deadline is April 10th.

    *LCEA---1 award provided by Lauderdale County Education Association with preference given to the child of a member of LCEA or to someone entering the field of education.  Deadline is April 10th.
