Dear Caregivers,

                  My name is Ashley Roark and I will be your child’s band teacher for this year. I am a graduate of Bethel University in McKenzie, TN where I received my bachelors of science in music education.  I am so excited to have your student in my class this year.

                  This year the Ripley Middle School Band will be attending several events. Each student will work alone or with a small group to participate in the Solo and Ensemble festival. We will also travel as a group to Concert Festival where we will be given a rating based on our playing. The band will have several opportunities to participate with the high school band program such as the Ripley Christmas Parade and RMS basketball games.  All event details will be sent home in a letter, emailed, and posted to our website as they become available.

                  Pulling off a successful year will require all of your support and the hard work of the students. SINCE MUSIC IS A SUBJECT THAT IS BEST TAUGHT THROUGH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL ACTIVITIES. The student will be assessed to determine final grade average. A PORTION OF THE GRADE IS DETERMINED BY LEVEL OF ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN MUSIC ACTIVITIES.  Class and concert participation is mandatory.
