Class Summary

  • My class consists of many components. The children develop fluency and expression through oral reading, gain comprehension through a variety of resources, and are exposed to an array of various reading skills. Some of the skills that they should be proficient in by the end of their seventh grade year include: figurative language, propaganda techniques, elements of a story, different genres of literature, outlining, foreign phrases and many others. Vocabulary is also stressed throughout the year. The children are encouraged to read A.R. to broaden their vocabulary, and are also given weekly vocabulary tests for this purpose.

Class Expectations

  • My expectations are very simple. I expect my students to be prepared for class, to listen, to keep a reading notebook, to be respectful to me and to their peers, and to do their very best. I, in turn, will teach them what they are expected to learn in the seventh grade, will treat them fairly, and will provide an environment that is conducive to learning.
