Changing lives
The faculty and staff at Lauderdale County Optional High School are dedicated to reaching their students on a personal level and encourage them to express themselves through art and group activities in addition to their regular curriculum.

Back to School Inservice
At the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year, educators at Lauderdale County Optional School participated in a special inservice.
Faculty and staff participated in several activities designed to get to know each other, including an A-B-C scavenger hunt. Optional School educator Doug Crowder found the most items in the scavenger hunt, earning him a fruit basket.

A visit from Leadership Lauderdale
Lauderdale County Optional School recently received a visit from the Lauderdale County Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Lauderdale class.
During the visit, Ollie Fields presented outgoing Lauderdale County Schools Superintendent Joey Hassell with a certificate of appreciation from the Family Resource Center.

Door Decorations
Students at Lauderdale County Optional School celebrated Christmas with a door decorating contest. The activity allowed students to reveal their artistic talents and also encouraged collaboration and team-building skills.
Students and teachers worked hard on the project, which brightened the halls - and the spirits - of those attending and visiting the school.
Presentations were made at the end of the contest, with the winning classrooms - all of them! - treated to a pizza party.

Bank of Ripley mini-grants
Several classrooms at Lauderdale County Optional School were recently chosen to receive Bank of Ripley mini-grants. The funds will help educators initiate activities and lessons designed to reach these very special students and make a difference in their lives.

Denim Day
Faculty and staff at the Lauderdale County Optional School recently played it cool on Jean Jacket Day. Co-workers sported denim in the fun day.

Pastor visits students
Students at Lauderdale County Optional School were recently visited by Pastor O.C. Parker of Henning Grove Baptist Church.
Parker visited classrooms and presented motivational speeches to students in honor of Black History Month.
